Orrible, How about some of you County boys name who you think should try for the trials. Everyone is very modest about their own ability and generally plays themselves down. You all know the standard of players that play County. You have already named Michael O Boyle and Adam. Based on what you have seen from various players, name the ones who could do well for the County A, B and Women's and hold their own in the team i.e.) Juls from Rosemary Branch certainly for Women's. It would then give some the extra confidence to try out in trials, where normally they wouldn't even consider the prospect. Just a thought? I will shut up now and go away!

that's not fair Baz. There is a slight gulf in ability between A & B but that is slowly closing with Dom, Rob and yourself stepping up to the plate

I think anyone who can achieve on or around 50% in the premier league should consider themselves in with a chance of making it to county B the A standard is quite a bit better in my opinion , I will be trialing(if required to) also from my team I believe Wayne,Craig and Lawrence will be having a stab. anyone having doubts just have a go you might surprise yourself

Well even myself a year ago went in the trials. I chickened out the year before with some lame excuse. Just scared at getting slaughtered really and looking an idiot! I lost first 2 games (all best of 5), using the 3 lives and out Swiss system. Won my next 5 games on last life, then at about 8.20 left very quickly to play in doubles comp. I think I was 1 or 2 games away from getting in B possibly, never did find out. Will be in trials in January if only to get some good games with some great players. Well worth a fiver!

I think we should encourage as many players from the Cambridge League to attend as possible. Let's show the rest of the County which League is the best one

Everyone has a chance to play county, trials are usually 2nd/3rd week in January, all you have to do is quailify. To do this you usually need to win 5 or 6 matches out of 7 or 8. Maybe someone in the know will be able to ask someone and publish a definate date on this thread for us. There is nothing on any of the websites yet. I will be there...would be an ideal next step in development for me.

Interesting rant Ian been at the cooking sherry again? lol I think most know your intentions were/are good its nice to have the "big guns" in but they are only worth having if they turn up, cant win your frames by sitting at home Dont know about the B team but the A team have built up a bit of momentum in the last 2 games and now have half a chance of winning the region with a big result next month. You are right about me I may not be the youngest in the side but I am certainly the newest to the game of pool I even learned a couple of new shots today(one in particular thanks to Simon pointing it out after a game for me) ,got great benefit from playing one below Phil towards the top of the order and having to ref all his games makes me realise how much I still have to learn Surely this is what the whole system of county is about bringing players through taking them to the next level? Plenty of talented players just in the cambridge league alone trials should be interesting. Watch out for Rob Cork he is my tip as the player to step it up he will have a proper cue soon thanks to a purchase from John Parris and anyone who can play as well as he did with his old broom handle of a cue has got to to be a real threat with a good cue!

Cheers for the compliment mate - I think I was a bit lucky to get 3 out of 4 yesterday, needed a couple of chances in some of those frames! I feel I'm on a bit of a dodgy run of form at the moment, I'll have to get a fair bit of practice in tonight at our college tournament, before we take on the Rathmore tomorrow! I seem to have forgotten how to pot over the last week or two... I've really enjoyed my first season of County pool, I'd really encourage anyone else out there who's thinking about it to give it a go. It's only one sunday a month, sometimes it can be tough to make the time, but the fixtures are published well in advance so you've got plenty of time to organise your life around pool! ;D Well played to everyone from Cambs yesterday, it was a really good team effort as Paul and Ian said. After we went 4-0 up they started to pull it back, but we held firm and even won the second leg 8-3 I think (maybe 7-4?), to build an unassailable lead. Awesome stuff. See you all at the Open in a couple of weeks' time, if not before!

Not sure what the Sussex vs Essex result was, but according to the uk8ball forums Bedfordshire and Norfolk drew, which would make the 'A' table look like this (who's got too much time on their hands...?): County | Pl | W | D | L | F | A | Bonus | Points | Hertfordshire | 9 | 5 | 1 | 3 | 200 | 196 | 27 | 227 | Cambridgeshire | 9 | 4 | 0 | 5 | 204 | 192 | 20 | 224 | Norfolk | 9 | 4 | 1 | 4 | 202 | 194 | 22 | 224 | Suffolk | 8 | 5 | 1 | 2 | 191 | 161 | 27 | 218 | Essex | 8 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 174 | 178 | 19 | 193 | Bedfordshire | 9 | 2 | 1 | 6 | 175 | 221 | 12 | 187 |
It's looking pretty tight, depending on how many points Suffolk got on sunday. We should have it all to play for in december, and if I end up playing for the B's again then we'll probably have it all to play for too C'mon the Cambs! ;D ;D
