The Cambridge Amateur Second Chance Pool Series
The Competition
This Series is designed to be a value for money event in terms of table time.
The competition will be a double elimination style format. After the first round, players will be split into two brackets of 16, winners and losers. The winners half play down to the winners bracket final and this will determine the overall winner. The losers bracket will also play down to a final with the losers from the winners bracket entering the loser bracket every second round. This culminates with the runner up in the winners bracket playing the losers brackets winner to determine second and third places. The runner up in the losers bracket final will finish fourth place.
Ranking points gained from the first 4 events will determine the seeding in the Grand Final. The exact format and order of play can be seen over the page.
Format
World Rules
All matches are a race to 5 (lag for break)
No handicaps
No redraws
Ranking system to be used from the first four events to determine seeding for the Grand Final.
Players not present once their match has been called will be docked 1 frame every 10 minutes, and will forfeit their match after 30 minutes
Matches may be timed at the discretion of the organisers
All matches to be completed on the day of each event.
Any player who concedes or leaves early will only receive prize money and ranking points for the last round they completed.
All tables to be placed on free play for the main competition and plate.
The first round draw will be posted to entrants a week before each event.
The tables will be cleaned and ironed after every match.

Events to be held at Cambridge Snooker Centre (CSC) on the following dates;
Event 1 - Saturday 10th March
Event 2 - Saturday 19th May
Event 3 - Saturday 8th September
Event 4 - Saturday 13th October
G/Final - Saturday 17th November
Entry requirements & fees
Entry limited to players who have not been classed as professional or international in any cue sport within the last three years up to entry closing date.
Grand Final restricted to those that have entry fees paid up in full.
Payment for the series is £60 for 5 events £30 due by the closing date of 28th February and remaining £30 due before start of play at Event Two, 19th May). Any other payments around these amounts will be accepted early including payment in full.
Entry packs can be posted out upon request by contacting the organiser, or packs will be available form behind the bar at CSC from 17th Nov.
Completed entry forms with fees can be given to the organiser in person or left behind the bar at CSC in the info pack return envelope provided! Alternatively, entries can be posted to Darren Taylor at the address shown in the Contact Info section. Cheques should be made payable to “Darren Taylor”. Cash is posted at a persons own risk. Entry will not be confirmed until any payment by cheque has cleared first.
Any player who commits to the series and fails to pay money by the dates due will be suspended from the series and potentially any further events organised by Touching Cloth Pool Promotions.
Entries are taken on a first come, first served basis.
Prize Money
For events 1 to 4 the prize structure will be as follows (dependant on 32 entries):

Fourth place £30

Ranking Points
Ranking points for Events 1 to 4 will be determined as follows:
Winner: 20
Second: 18
Third: 16
Fourth: 14
Round 7: 12
Round 6: 10
Round 5: 8
Round 4: 6
Round 3: 4
Round 2: 2 (attendance bonus)
Merit points will also be awarded to Round 2 losers, one point per frame won.
Plate winner 4 bonus ranking points.
Ranking points will be used to determine the seeds for grand Final.
Prize Money - Grand Final
The Grand Final Prize Money will be structured as follows
Winner £200
Runner up £120
Third place £80
Fourth place £60
Round 7 £30
Round 6 £20
Ranking points achieved in the Grand Final are double that of events 1 to 4. Merit points will also be awarded to Round 2 losers, one point per frame won in each round.
Exact prize structure may vary based on the number of paid entrants.
Plate Events
All plate events organised subject to interest and time restrictions on the day.
£5 entry, prize fund to be made up of paid entries only.
Format will be race to three straight knockout. Final will be race to four frames. Entries will be taken only from players from the main competition who are completely eliminated by Round Three. Plate winners will receive 4 bonus ranking points, this is doubled in the Grand final.
Speed Pool Comp
As a bit of fun to occupy you between rounds, on each event day there will be a speed pool competition. It will cost £1 per frame to enter, unlimited entries per person. The rules are as follows:
Each frame will only be counted if timed by an official and paid for prior to play.
Timing will start when the balls come to rest from the break.
If the white is potted from the break, timing will start when the remaining balls on the table come to rest.
If the white is potted out of turn at any time during the frame, timing will continue and play resume as normal.
The white must be played form the baulk area of the table as per world rules.
Only the player may retrieve the white from the ball collection area.
If a player ”catches or stops” the white as it enters any pocket out of turn the frame is forfeited.
The Black Eight ball must be the last ball potted to count as a valid frame, only exception is if the black is potted off the break, play may continue and the player can pot the remaining balls in any order, as in normal play.
If the black is potted out of turn, the frame is forfeited.
Timing will stop when the white comes to rest after the last valid ball is potted.
Times will be rounded to the nearest whole second.
In the event of joint first place finish, prize money will be split evenly across number of joint first place finishers.
Qualifying times will remain secret until the competition closes.
Prize money may be held and paid to the winner at the next event if they have left early.
Prize money for the winner will be calculated from number of entries. Some prize money may be carried into a “Champion of Champions” Series prize pot, where the fastest time over the five events will earn the winner the title of, “Speed Pool Series Champ”. Prize money and/or a Trophy will be presented to the overall winner.
