Blackbull 6 CSC OZ 6 Talk about a game of 2 halfs, well this was certainly it! We all played rubbish in the first half, either taking the wrong shot on, or missing by miles. A complete turn-around after last week's win. Darren was the only one to win his frame, and he didn't deserve that So 5-1, and looking like we were going to take the beating we deserved. Then up came Marcus to produce a great finish for 5-2. That seemed to lift us, and we won the next too, but then lost another, when Evan broke n dished for 6-3. However we somehow won the next 3 frames, with a bit of luck in the last one, to get the draw, when it looked very unlikely at halftime. Great comeback

Oh can't not mention one of the funniest things i've seen at a pool match................... Monty plays a rubbish shot, and then swings his cue around in total 'hulked up' mode (reminded me of Kev 'The Hulk' Batterbee). His cue went straight through the light shade, and ended up halfway down his cue, making it look like a spinning top I'm sure this must have put Pete off, and won Monty the frame - great tactic

Mickeys 5 - 7 Moon
We were very determined to do well for this match after an abysmal showing the previous week. We went 0 - 3 up and yours truly stopped the rot for us yet again, I could blame the heavier spotted cue ball but I won't. And i won't mention their captain refusing to change it to a normal cue ball despite our repeated requests. I also won't mention the league Sec telling their captain to use a standard cue ball. God forbid I should talk about their captain then ringing the Chairman manipulating their desired response. What I will say is we played great and if it wasn't for a few inspired finishes by Carl and Mick, the scoreline could have been wider. tactics backfired me finks! Will Scott is a much better captain. Bring him back x

Monkey is Overall Sec.
we're gonna use a square cue ball at ours when we play them again. Nothing in writing to say we can't!

the word manipulated is retracted.
Does the cue ball have to be white? i'd quiet like a pink one with green glittery freckles.
Seriously... Just cos it isn't in the constitution, a decision should have been made a lot easier and stuck to.

I was not gonna comment on here but now I will ..... We have played with a spotted white ball at home since our beating in the cup final last year. When Ian asked to play with a standard ball we wanted to play with the spotted ball so we refused. We was asked to contact monkey with the situation which in his opinion was it was not allowed, when we explained we used it to play the cup final last season he said "to let Steve call the decision" we contacted Steve who said "nothing against it in the rules" so we carried on and was beaten by the better team on the night..... Then to be accused to manipulate monkey and Steve was an unbelievable statement which in Ian's way is understandable.... We would like again to congratulate the moon team on a good result and like to thank Ian for his apology (attempt) above for the mistake he made. We would also like to offer the spotted white to the moon team for the return leg as to watch the silky skills of Dan Kidd who in his own words "people can see what I do with a spotted white". Again we was beaten by the better team can't wait for the return leg?!?!?!

I can confirm, No excessive use of talc on the night as the moon would like to win the fair play trophy this season.

World Rules states:
The Game of Eight-Ball Pool is played with:-
A "Cue Ball" - being a white ball. Fifteen "Object Balls" - consisting of:- "Colours" - being a group of seven red balls, (or balls numbered 1 to 7) and a group of seven yellow balls (or balls numbered 9 to 15). The "Eight-Ball" - being a black ball marked with a number "8".

The "Eight-Ball" - being a black ball marked with a number "8". This is stated in the rules. We have made two exceptions to this. The Med has a red cloth and therefore use yellow and blue balls. The Run has a black cloth and therefore use a gold coloured 8 ball. On both occasions, the committee were asked if this was OK. On both ocassions we felt it was just a change of colour and nothing substantially different. In my personal opinion, the spotted white ball is a different issue. I am told that it is a different weight and reacts differently. This is the ball you actually hit so it is important. I felt that a standard cue ball should be used. Dale argued that they were forced to use a spotted white at last season's TKO Final. I was not present that night so i couldn't comment on that. That was when Dale decided to ring Steve.

Having played quite a bit using a spotted white I would say that there is little to no difference. Also, if you consider that the white ball they play with down the Moon is far from new or mint condition there's every chance it actually weighs MORE than the newer spotted white at Mickeys. But you don't have to take my word on it. Here's a guy that did a little test using a small sample of balls: www.stevedaking.com/hustlebox/2011/07/red-spot-weigh/ In summary, he found that the old white balls actually weighed more on average than the newer spotted ones! Like he says at the end, there are far bigger determining factors such as cloth, cushions, etc... Even more so in the local pool league world where there is such variation between tables, their upkeep, temperature & humidity, etc. You also have to consider the human element where if people form an opinion that a ball reacts differently they are prone to seeing it more. All that said rules are rules. If the spotted white is an illegal ball I would propose the match is replayed in the interests of fairness using a standard white ball ;D ;D

The spotted white IS heavier. This is not disputed Craig. It just has a higher resin percentage, It makes a huge difference! Mind you, even if you turned your cue around you'd probably notice "little difference" ;D A standard cue ball was available. The Cup final has nothing to do with anything. That was a one off and CSC were informed. A decision was made by The Overal Sec. Hence why I wasn't happy. But hey ho.
If a venue has a novelty table for commercial reasons then so be it. I haven't played on the KSR table yet so can't comment.

Ok, I just weighed a few balls on some fairly expensive digital scales at work and the results were:
Pro cup red ball - 118 Pro cup spotted white ball - 97 Standard red ball - 117 Standard white ball - 96
There you have it. When will the replay of the match take place??
