Have you ever fancied playing Pool for your County.
This year, Cambridgeshire will have five different teams: Men’s A, Men’s B, Ladies, Youth and Senior’s.
The matches take place once a month from February to December excluding August, on a Sunday afternoon on a home and away basis. The home matches take place at Cambridge Snooker and Pool centre, otherwise known as CSC. The region comprises Suffolk, Norfolk, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex. In 2012, the Mens’ A team and Ladies team both won the region. We wish them the best of luck at the Inter County Finals at Great Yarmouth in March.
The Cambridgeshire Pool Association is holding trials to enter these teams in January. The Men’s squad trials take place on 20th January at CSC. The Ladies, Youth and Senior trials take place on 27th January, again at CSC. You need to be under 18 to enter the Youth team and 50 or over to enter the Senior team. The registration fee is £8 and you should aim to be there for 11am for a Midday start. The matches are played to world rules. Advice on the rules can be received on the day. The trials normally use a Swiss system with races to three. Each player has three lives. If you would like to book your place or require any further information then please contact Steve McCann (07540251599) or myself (Mark Golden 07884435283).

Yo
We had 38 come to the Men's trials today. Thanks to all for coming. This comprised 17 from the CAPL, 3 from Ely, 6 from March, 4 from Peterborough and 8 from Haverhill. I believe the only area not represented was St Neots.
A total of 9 players qualified. They are Chuck Sellars (March), Grant Watson (March), Ben Bushby (Peterborough), Ivan Knight (Peterborough), James Pritchard (March), Stacey Tite (CAPL), Michael Shipton (CAPL), Jamie Williams (CAPL) and Matt Skelton (Haverhill). I believe that Chuck and Grant qualified without losing a match.
The last four knocked out are down as reserves. They are Dan Wright (CAPL), Darren Taylor (CAPL), Scott Williamson (Haverhill) and Matt Hoadley (Haverhill).
A special mention to Nathan Sanders. Nathan is 15 years old and currently plays in the Youth team. He trialled for the Men's team and although he didn't make it he did beat Ben Bushby 3-0, who went on to qualify.
Next Sunday is the Ladies, Youth and Seniors. If you require any further information then please get in touch with Steve McCann or myself.
