We had a situation come up in a practice game, where the white was potted and there was only one place behind the bulk line where a foul snooker wouldnt occur. So the question is are you allowed to place the white into a foul snooker position even if there is somewhere else you could put it
In the game we had yesteday if i put the white right against the side cushion then it wasnt a foul snooker but it meant the white was hampered so i would have prefered to put it in the middle and play a free ball first

In my opinion, no. If there is somewhere that you can put the white behind the baulk line, where it is not a foul snooker then you cannot claim it.

If the white ball goes down, and can be placed in a position behind the line where there is no foul snooker, then no foul snooker can be claimed wherever the player chooses to place the white.

I find this is the situation that causes most arguments
