I just wanted to throw a question out there regarding capl tournaments in particular doubles, trebles etc Why as a player in the capl do I have to enter for example mens doubles with a player from my team ? The reason I ask is because at fssc they are set in there ways and i cant and wouldnt expect them to change for little old me but i really want to be involved and taking part in doubles and trebles but im not able to enter despite my best efforts so why if im keen to play and be involved should I miss out is it really important that entrants are from the same team ? mixed doubles is for anyone not restricted within teams and i dont want to leave fulbourn so i can take part in more tournaments etc that would just seem absurd and extreme so any thoughts people i would appreciate any feedback or suggestions

To be accurate it's actually open to players from the same venue, not the same team. If your venue only has one team then that's not a great help.
I think some people believe that players entering events such as the men's singles and doubles are there winning it for not just themselves but also their team or venue as it has now become. From that point of view it makes sense to restrict these competitions. The only reason the mixed doubles isn't restricted like this is because otherwise there wouldn't be enough entrants to make the competition sustainable and competetive.
I'm not denying that viewing these competitions as being nothing to do with who you play for or from is also a perfectly valid standpoint. It's just a case that the current constitution continued the notion from the old version through to the revised version.
Bringing this to the next GM or AGM would be worthwhile. At least that way, whatever the vote, it will be based on an opinion inline with current views and not a previously established one.

If either of you had been at the last AGM/GM you would know this was brought up then, and unanimously voted for in favour of continuing as present.
