This Sunday (3rd July) is the CAPL Handicapped Singles tournament. If you have not yet entered, you can get in contact with me (my details are on the contacts page of http://www.cambridgeareapoolleague.co.uk) before Sunday, or you can turn up on the day at 10am at the latest. Entry is £5.
The list of entrants so far and their handicaps are detailed below. It is necessary to ensure all matches are of a reasonable length such that the tournament finishes on the day the following handicapping will take place:
Each player is given a handicap from 0 to 6. When two players are drawn to play each other, the race is determined by the difference in their handicaps, with the higher ranked player starting on 0 and the lower ranked player starting on the difference in handicap.
The races will be as follows:
First to 5 if your handicaps are equal or different by 1.
First to 6 for difference of 2 so the better player needs to win 6-3 3 or better to progress.
First to 7 for a difference of 3 so the better player needs to win 7-3.
First to 8 for a difference of 4 so the better player needs to win 8-3.
First to 9 for a difference of 5 or 6 so the better player needs to win 9-3 or 9-2 respectively.
The listing of handicap groupings and the players within those groups are as follows:
0 - Paul Stelmaszuk, Michael O'Boyle, Simon Rivers
1 - Steve McCann, Paul Reed, Sam Moralee, Kev Batterbee, Darren Edmonds, Rob Hogan, Ian Norris
2 - Shaun Leader, Sav Kides, Stu Cassidy, Lawrence Beech, Pete McGannon, Stacey Tite, Sean O'Boyle, Dom Cobley, Johnny Chapman, Chris Patient, Mark Bell, Nosh Lemmon, Barry Lindsay.

4 - John Pell, Robbie Arthur, James Todd, Rich Pigg, Ray Thompson, Jordan Lemmon, Chris Clayton, Mark Roberts, Dave Schwarz, Will Brown, Andy Bourne, Jason Browes, Jose Robeiro, Steve Griffiths, Brian Brown, Lee Lebbon, Michael Duignan, Mick Whitehead, Brian Cooper, Michael Shipton, Colin Copeland, Dylan Palmer, Simon Green, Sid Richards.
5 - Chris Jenkins, J Wilkinson, Matt Seaby, Ivo Miller, Jamie Missing, Adi Card, Matt Foot, Helen Schwarz, Scott Clasby, O'Reilly, J Griffiths, Pudney, Matt Lucas, Nathan Weekes, Lambert, James Seaman, Neil Thurbon-Seaman.
6 - Lewis Early.
Feel free to comment on the handicaps, what you would do differently, who should be ranked higher or lower etc. This handicaps are pretty much final and it is unlikely that any of these will be changed without a very compelling argument, but I do welcome discussion on the forum and will take everyone's thoughts into consideration when determining the following season's handicapping.
Enjoy!
Start times for those already entered can be found at cambridgepool.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=comps&action=display&thread=5713&page=1.
Remember if you are drawn to start at 10.15am or 12pm, that is when the draws take place, if you're late you will not be in the draw and receive no refund. Arrive with 15 minutes to spare to avoid disappointment. Feel free to call me in the morning if you are genuinely struggling to make the time but will attend.
