It has been brought to our attention by various means that we have youths out there who would like to play pool, which is what the committee want to promote.
As a result I (with the support of the committee) am looking into how viable a youth cup knockout would be, the basics would be as follows: * Played at CSC on a Saturday morning starting for 11.30am, date to be confirmed (but to be played early next season). * Pool open playing format to WORLD RULES. * Open to players upto and including 15 years old. * Trophies for 1st/2nd/3rd. * Enrty fee to be dertimed (prob £2/3 per entry) * 32 entry max.
So if you are intrested in a possible enrty please post on here. (any format posting will be deleted as we only want to know if there would be enough entries to run such an event!)

This would be an ideal article for cambridge evening news. Lets get the kids who aren't atached to the league involved? Is Barry & Jof going to play? lol

My oldest boy is very keen he dont stop on about playing pool hes 10 & i know another lad whos 15 & very good but it wouldnt be very fair if they had to play against each other. Maybe splitting them in to age groups would be a more even contest.

To try and answer a couple of points.
I'm not going to set a min age at this time, obviously the entered youth will need to be able to safely reach the table and have some knowledge of the rules as they will be playing a match which will be played to world rules.
As for spliting the event down into age groups then yes this would be possible of we have enough entries from a varity of ages.
If we want to run the youth cup and make it work we need intrest in it! (so put the word out!!!)

Yes the youth cup is on tommorow.
If you have got players to enter then if you can let me have their names and ages tonight it would help with the planning! If not turn up at CSC tommorrow morning for 11am.

Well the Youth Cup has been and gone! Thanks to Chris for running it in my absence and to all of the people who helped by refereeing matches throughout the day.
When I left there was a good atmosphere and I have heard that this did continue throughout the day. Thanks to everyone who turned up and well done to all of the youngsters who took part (many of whom I'm sure this was their first tournament), a big well done to the winners: 1st place: Dominic Cooney 2nd Place: Phillip Blackwell Plate winner: Aaron Grass
I hope that you all enjoyed your day and that we will see you all again for the next youth cup.
