Hi all,
Another glorious county Sunday was had today, this time at the cosy Riley's Club in Luton.
Men's A
The Men's A Team won 27-17 away to Beds continuing their 100% record for the season. Although we started slowly, we managed to win both of the first two sets and then pulled away into a commanding lead in the third set.
"Mr. Money" Craig Benstock put in a man of the match performance to punish his opponents mistakes winning 4 from 4. Will Scott, Jamie Clements and myself won 3 from 4 to help the team towards victory. Currently region 4 number 1 hotshot Paul Stelmaszuk also won 3 from 4 keeping him firmly in contention for the title of Region 4 Hotshot King!!
With only one team left for Cambs to play in the first half of the season, the tough Essex A, we are sitting pretty at the top of the region 4 table, 3 points clear of our nearest rivals.
Men's B
The Men's B Team also won this weekend with a 24-20 victory. A win next month against Essex B will put Cambs B right back in hunt for a top 2 finish.
Ron "Nosh" Lemmon, Iain "Hat" Aldous, Tim "Destroyer" Redman and Matt "Fordy" Ford all won 3 of their frames and helped make the difference in a match which was close throughout.
Special thanks to Matt Burton for making his county debut this month. We were left one player short at the very last minute, and having already given another Cambs player a lift to Luton (who would not have been able to get there otherwise), he was then able to step in and win valuable frames to help the B team win. Thanks Matt!!
Youth
The youth team yet again played with only 9 players but put up a good fight winning 12 frames in the match. Their opposition had top youth players (such as Joel Riddaway and Adam Toms who regularly win matches on the Herts Pool Tour) at their disposal and look like potential favourites for the region.
Ashley Scarr won all 4, with Dom Cooney and Liam Francis winning 3.
Ladies
As usual, if anyone from the Ladies' team would like to let us know how they got on, then please do so.
I will do my best to find out the Ladies' result to update this.
Next Match: Home to Essex (17th June)
Both A and B teams have put themselves into positions where they can go on and challenge this season but it will be key to get a good result against Essex next month.
Come on Cambs!!!
