They should bring Hann back too then... whom I personally think is the more entertaining talent.
It's one thing to report news and another to create news. As dispicable as the NOTW are and their actions, Higgins should be punished for his stupidity and intent if found guilty.

The problem with John Higgins "cheating" is that he is the world number 1. If someone making decent money from snooker is found guilty of cheating what message does it set for all the players who are struggling? There have already been further news stories containing cheat allegations, which continue to damage snooker's reputation.
If John Higgins is found to be guilty he needs to be banned for a sufficiently long time to equate to a life ban. Otherwise, not even Barry Hearn will be able to restore snooker's image.
It could give Virgo a new line for commentary though "Look at that, the referee didn't notice, but he's owned up to fouling the white when he had such an each chance to clear ... probably because he's being paid £10k to lose this frame"

I agree with alot of the comments on here I think the root of the problem is there are 96 professional snooker players out there and probably half if not a few more make less than average wage, add to that how easy it is to "accidently" run out of position or fractionally miss a pot and you can see why. I dont think it happens a great deal at the top of the game where the money jumps are bigger but it has to tempting for the pro's who are on breadline and have families to feed.
PS I dont think this is a problem with just snooker it goes on in most sports particularly where it concerns individuals playing.

Higgins cleared this afternoon allowed to come back on tournament circuit November!!! Will be interesting to see how they justify letting someone off who "appears" to have been caught red handed
