It's a Van Gogh.
Can't remember the name of the painting, but it's something really banal like "Skull with cigarette" or "Skeleton smoking".... something like that.

I only know this because I tried to copy it when I was at school, during a GCSE art lesson. I always found Picasso easier to copy.

It's a brilliant piece eh? it stood out like a sore thumb in his gallery in Amsterdam. - i fell in love with it.. especially having just enjoyed some of the local delicacy.

Going home to watch a film (admittedly one that is connected to my dissertation), eat too much Chinese, and sleep. Then up early tomorrow for another day in the library. Welcome to my life. lol We can have a game later in the month if you like. Dissertation due on the 23rd, so I'll be living in the library til then, but I'll be out and about afterwards. The Van Gogh is class, but very difficult to copy!! I found all Van Gogh's stuff hard to get to grips with, to be honest, but I basically got a B at GCSE (when I can't really draw or paint or sculpt) purely based on my work on Picasso. I could copy Picasso's work, spout crap about it, and get great marks, which I couldn't seem to do with anyone else. I think my favourite was: pablo-picasso.paintings.name/blue-period/gallery/images/1024/evocation-burial-casagemas.jpgAlthough I much preferred the depth of Guernica, the story surrounding it. I heard that during World War II, Picasso stood in front of Guernica in the gallery that was displaying it, and was silently surveying his own work. Some pompous prick Gestapo guy walks up to him, points up to the picture, and barks at him, "You!! You did this, didn't you?!!" To which Picasso replied, "No... you did," before walking away......

Nice!.
Seeing Guernica was the most important cultural thing i've ever done.. with Beethoven in full flight in the audio guide headset, approaching it from the side in this vast room.. people crying and hugging each other - was truly moving.
good luck with the ideas and the writings, see u on the other side of the 23rd. Peace.

I'd love to see Guernica. It covers a whole wall, doesn't it?
