Captain Smith's Rathmore All Stars 6 MOM 0
Congrats to everyone at the Rathmore. This result has all but won us the title. According to Monkey we need 2 frames against the Portland to seal it.
Well done to Monkey, Matt Bradford, Steve McCann, Rob Hogan, Matt Ford, Jimmy Munnally and Barry Lindsey.

Two flawless perfomances in a row to get us to Yarmouth... Can I predict a bye to the final accompanied by a no-show to win the event!

Sorry bout that. Me and another player were held up in Dublin airport, so couldn't field a team. Our vice captain texted Mick to cancel as that's the only number he had.
Congratulations on winning the league

to be honest i like many others am quite annoyed at the way this league is now run! we at fulbourn have a set main 5 players and use a rotational 3 players mostly the same 2 every week ! we have done this for nearly every season going back to when i first started playing for fulbourn, then known as the corner house! back then the league had a lot of interest and was run really well by cherry automatics! most thursday night teams would insult the league saying it was "MICKY MOUSE" yet this season we have seen an increase in interest from top players and teams!! COULD THIS BE DUE TO THE FACT THAT A PLACE IN YARMOUTH IS UP FOR GRABS!?? i for one find it quite petty that people want to ruin a friendly league with just the thought of yarmouth!! we have one this league many times and came runners up to! we have won and came runners up in the cup to and had winners in the singles knock out too!! NEVER have we ever gone to yarmouth, and it hadnt really crossed our minds!! i cant speak for all teams, but several comments have been made about players and certain teams and the way they field players in a season!! in previous seasons it was us vs newnham for most things, then turned to us and csc! which brought us big laughs along the way! finishing 3rd does not bother me!! losing out to 2 teams that just want a yarmouth place does!!! makes you wonder sometimes why you bother!! many thanks to mick roughhead for his efforts but it looks like a no thanks to re-entry next season!! never no with the yarmouth place up for grabs, could just turn it into a thursday night prem division for mondays!! i mean come on most of the players wanting the place in yarmouth are either playing for top teams in the prem , playing super league or internationals!!

I agreed to play for the Rathmore team because I thought it would be fun, with no aspirations of going to Yarmouth as I didn't even know the winners go to go until a couple of games in.
The idea behind our team was to create a 'committee' team as a bit of fun, although it only felt right for Jim to play also seeing as we were playing out of his pub and we needed the players to make up the numbers (and we did bring in some other players when we were short).
Maybe the 'big prize' has attracted 'big players'.
Perhaps next season the league should simply politely decline qualification of its teams to Yarmouth? That way you can be sure that no alleged superteam will try and use it as an easy route to Yarmouth.

i have no problem with you craig or most of your team ! you are a great bunch! and the team you have you have used, you have done so all season but that is not my problem! my problem is, being stiched up on the final night!! can you please confirm the rules on players registered? example team a brings in player a and b for final game player a wins player b loses but both player a and b win there doubles there was no registration for the players and no star or new player on the card! does this not make them not legal to play?

I doubt the Moon team have any interest in Yarmouth based on the Monday night team as they would almost all be ineligible (from qualifying through the Thursday night league); and Yarmouth didn't enter our minds when we entered the team as most of us didn't know it qualified. Like Craig, I play in this team as it gives us a chance to have a game and a laugh, and means we get to socialise outside of a committee meeting environment. While we did win against the Fulbourn team at your place, we lost to you at our place and I'd like to think we had a good laugh during it. I wouldn't class us as a superteam but if you must call us that I shall take it as a compliment. I don't know anything about stitch ups on the final night however :S. I was ready to leave the house for the match against the Portland and was told they couldn't get a team out.

im with steve and craig on this one. the Rathmore team is a committee team with a couple extras when we were short. apart from Barry Lindsey who came in half way through the season is was the same players each week.
we didnt want to win the league by 2 no shows. yes when the moon played us sunday they pulled (or tried) out their thursday night super players (sorry stel) but even then they couldnt get a team. the look on stels face said it all. we lost against fulbourn and the moon 5-4. both times it was a good laugh.
and this is for Mr Easey at the end of the day it was THE POWER OF THE GLOVE!!!!

And I thought a game of pool was meant to be an occasion for social enjoyment?

Thanks James! Nice for someone to understand my view! What has annoyed me most is that we (fulbourn) previously corner house have played in the league for years we have hardly changed team bob, Joe and me being long serving players! What was ment to be a friendly league, has been hijacked by some Thursday night people ! What I don't agree with , is if you are going to try to make it like a Thursday then say so! And play by the rules! Eg if non registered players play punish them! Cause that cost is 2nd place!! Nice to see our money , the club pays, ultimately robbed by a few cheats! I feel quite strong on this as I have played for the same team for 8 years!!! And all of a sudden the league is hijacked !!! Top stuff guys !! But credit to the rathmore! I ain't moaning about u guys !
