The Ladies had a stonking 38-6 win
The Mens B also won 25-19
Not sure of the Mens A or the Youths scores.

we lost.
Not sure what sort of side we will have next year but there was no atmosphere at all yesterday. Not like there used to be. Very divided team. not good. Some of the players are thinking of quitting. Oh, and I didn't like playing in that room either....... it ws like a funeral

Oh, and I didn't like playing in that room either....... it ws like a funeral True it was quite in the side room yesterday but I dont think you can blame the room surely if you take something that is noisy and put it in a confined space it should get louder and more intimidating??? Its been quiet at county matches for a while now I think its got more to do with the people who have stopped playing like Mick and Nicky for example who were both excellent at motivating people and the noisy support.

The less atmosphere there is, the less people want to play.. and vice versa. It takes a lot of character and determination to perceiver when the side isn't winning, especially when a lot of the county 'A' players are used to winning things individually. I hope that the 'A' team work out their problems and stay together, because when you have worked at playing pool for so many years it deserves to be showcased at a recognised and competitive level. I know that you all want to finish first and win, but it's all about representing your County and I think teams expect a tough fought match when they play Cambridge. So for that reason, there is plenty to be positive about. Anyway... I guess I should get back to fixing computers for a bit

Good point though I think most of the county players certainly in the A team go through the mundane month by month stuff purely to try and get to Yarmouth lets be honest county matches can be a bit of a slog away games can take up 8 or 9 hours of your Sunday with the travelling and all for maximum of 4 frames! Also its your first full season like it is mine easy to forget there are players in the a team who have been playing county best part of 20 years the pride of "representing your county" has to become less of an appeal over this sort of time.

Exactly right Stel. I had this conversation with Phil on sunday. He (like a few of us) have been playing County for many years and the feeling is very different. My biggest problem is that I get very annoyed when I lose because I know it means so much to everyone to win and to get to Yarmouth. I stayed off the drink for this one but when I lost I got so annoyed at myself, i remembered why I get bladdered. The mass exodus of many of the top players, like Goodale, Wilson, Aucherlone (spelling?), Parnell, Hope, Conlon and more has left a huge hole and taken a lot of the shine off. I dquit London County Pool because it happened there too. I guess it is a case of de-ja-vu...

The day is what you make it. If you dont want to be there your not going to have a good day like one of the essex b team lads. It was written all over his face and it showed in his play. Better a player that wants to play than a superstar that couldnt careless.

Not many players coming through that look able to play top 5 at county A but the youth league is a step in the right direction I have seen some of the tournaments and if they stick at it will be some every good players coming through in a few years

Having been involved with the county youth and the youth league this year and finding my feet on the way. The older youth players are already playing in leagues across the county and playing the top players and the younger ones as far as I know only play against family and friends. I don't feel it is about them playing you in comps, more of a schooling exercise.
Possibly the only way these lads will get the chance to play any of the adult county players would be before a county match, but then I know you all need to get yourselfs up to speed to play your matches.
For me personally, their are 3 youth league players that play out of Fulbourn, all 3 could be county of tomorrow having all reached the youth cup semis last year. My suggestion here is that if anyone wants to travel an additional 4 miles to play these lads they would be more than welcome. We practice Tuesdays, anyboby interested PM please and I will arrange.

I've seen Jordan Middleton, John Scott, and Corry Prince (not county) all play recently, and think all 3 have plenty of potential.
Dan Taylor has obviously applied himself very well of the last couple of seasons, and this reflects in County rankings and a 'B' team call-up.
I can't put a face to the name 'Jamie Stokes' who also looks to be doing very well at County youth.
I would also be keen to come to the Fulbourn and play some of the players there. I'll be there next Tuesday at 7pm if that's ok.
It's a shame we can't get Josh, Michael, and Will playing regular County for the Men's 'A' team. Perhaps they will consider trialling this year...?

I think myself Dale and Simon should get to work on a few of these players. If we still stand a chance we will get to keep Phil too. Michael coming in is a massive boost
We could do with Will and Mick for sure. if we could get one or two of the P/Boro lads back we would be hot favourites again

I think trying to bring some of the youngsters through is a better bet in the long run Michael is a great addition already class player and only in early twenties could do with 2 or 3 more like him ;D

I would be interested in helping too maybe we could help where we are strongest in our own games I could assist in cueing/working on their technique and maybe breaking, Simon and Ian in shot selection and clearance routes. Craig's best attribute is probably his attitude I am sure some of the youngsters need assistance in that ;D
