I will take this opportunity to say a few things. I conceded a frame on Sunday, one that I didn't think I could win anyway. As people know, I don't concede anything, ever, because I hate to lose more than anything. However, there were circumstances that I felt, at the time, justified my decision. I was being verbally abused, beyond anything I've experienced in organized competitive pool before, by the other team. I stood up off the shot twice, asked one of them in particular to show some respect, before he tried to turn it into a fight. None of my team were there at this point, and I felt really cornered. I got down for the third time on the shot, and just as I was playing the shot, the guy shouted 'prick' in my ear. Thanks to a combination of this monkey's inability to act civilized, and the roll on the table, I missed. I stood up and had a decision to make. I could either lose it and react against the player (I use this term loosely) concerned, or get the hell out of Dodge. I felt that for me personally, the best route was not to get banned for scrapping with the idiot, so I conceded the frame and walked out. I was absolutely livid and needed to be away from there. What followed was neither here nor there, there were arguments had, things said in heat of the moment etc. The idiot concerned was deemed by his own teammates to have been so out of order in what he did to me that he has been banned by his own county. Maybe for his own safety. I am not trying, at this late juncture, to condone what I did, but I feel that it is important for all concerned to know that at the time, with the circumstances what they were, I had to remove myself from the situation as soon as possible. From my point of view, I had a split second to make a decision, and at the time, in the heat of the moment, I felt I made the right one. Walk away rather than lose my temper. I understand that from the team's point of view it wasn't right, and for this I apologize. In the cold light of day it is plain to me that the course of action I took did not benefit the team, and that with this in mind, it is not the correct course of action in a team event. I accept that the situation led to the other team being more fired up, and could have detracted from what could have been a bigger win for our team. Again, my apologies.
It was once speculated by a philosopher that no-one deliberately makes the wrong decision. They can only do their best at the time. I readily admit that I'm not perfect, but I do my best.

Dale told me we won 26-18 mate. I dont think so i was one of the few players left for the end and Stu told me we had 25 before we lost the last 3 frames ,Phil from Suffolk confirmed it was 25 at the end too unless they both made an error in the addition

Maybe a lesson learned for all us though support was a bit thin on the ground at times on Sunday if more of us had been watching maybe someone could have stepped in after the first comment before you had your moment. Lets move on big result required next month no room for any internal wranglings

I've made a few apology's in my time but none have ever been so full of excuse. The incident is now history but I would like to say that there were a fair few of us outside because of the ridiculous smoking ban. Had I witnessed what happened, you know what the outcome would have been... Prob best we were outside puffing away. Next time I suggest you stop the game rather than what happened. As far as i'm concerned the matter is forgotton. Unless of course we come second by one frame, then the whole season will be your fault. ;D
