Yo Folks
As some of you already know Cherry Automatics run a Monday night pool league.
Unfortunately due to one reason and another the size of the league has shrunk considerably in recent years. This is not helped at the moment as Dave (the organiser from Cherry) is currently recovering from a stroke. We wish him well.
In the meantime Mick Roughead (the landlord in the White Lion) is going to assume the role of organiser.
The Winter season has recently finished and a meeting regarding the Summer League will take place in the White Lion on Monday 2nd March at 8pm.
Any pub, club or individual wishing to join the league should go to the Lion next Monday. Alternatively you can contact Mick on 07977532360 or the pub on 01223565580.
The league would prefer pubs to have a cherry automatics table but this is not a strict requirement.
The league currently plays to blackball rules but i believe this is going to be changed next Monday to world rules.

Interesting, is there a website or somewhere with a list of all the current teams\venues? I think the White Lion already has one, I think I played a game for them once.
A Change of rules would be great as I hated the ones they currently use.

The change of rules is 99% certain.
current teams are;
White Lion (Sawston) White Horse (Pampisford/Sawston) formerly Queen's Head - Sawston Longbow (Gt Shelford) Fulbourn Hospital Newnham Croft Dobblers Sir Isaac Newton
I am also told that they are affiliated to the EPA and therefore the Champions and possibly runners up are eligible for the Champion of Champions at Gt Yarmouth. The league however would not pay the entrance fee.

It is old format 6 singles and 3 doubles. I think league entry is £25 per team.

I played for the Fulbourn Hospital side when they were the Corner House but due to Superleague i couldnt commit every week.
Won the Title in my one and only full season. Its a good league tho and i did quite enjoy blackball rules.

CSC would be a willing venue to play from James, I had a team playing from there a few seasons ago and no problem about the league allowing it

It's tougher than it used to be... I have played for about 12 years in it. Decent trophies. A good laugh. Monday night "Mickey Mouse" as it's known was a good practise night for me on a Thursday.

Only messing about.I know there are some decent players on a Monday night, and it's good practice for Thursdays if nothing else. Rules are weird though, and who honestly likes playing doubles ?.

The rules will hopefully be changed tonight. As for doubles it helps some players to play with a partner who may be a bit more tactically aware.
