We play div 7 and my team has a couple of snooker players who are playing their first season of pool. A situation arose where their player fouled and snookered my player. My player called a ‘total snooker’ and asked if he could move the white? The ref would not as the player had not made the correct call (our referee I should add) The player then admitted he could not remember what he needed to call in that situation.
Question - Should the ref be a stickler for the correct terminology even though the player could explain the rule but they could not remember the correct title for it?

According to refereeing guidelines, the ref should have allowed it, as he knew the player was correct. Simply not knowing the correct terminology shouldn't be a barrier to a correct ruling!
