Not gonna be up to Matt Covill's or Beresfords standard but I'll give it a bash.
1st half. So we turn up at about 8:15 to realise that not 1 of their entire team was there yet, and their first players arrive at 8:45pm. We were annoyed but just wanted to play so weren't gonna make too much of a fuss about it. Mr Mars Saunders himself up first finds himself snookered tight behind a red with his yellow in the middle of the table. He's lined up a ridiculous shot off the cushion, into the top corner and only gone and nailed it! A shot the top guys in the Prem would be proud of! Missed the black after but left it over the pocket and finished up on the 2nd time of asking. 1-0 to the Bind. 2nd up was the Marksman, Symonds himself. This fella's 2nd season in the pool league and he's getting better and better. Even in division 7, 73% on your 2nd season is a cracking percentage. He loves taking out a finish and does so in typical style. 2-0 The Bind. Next Up Jake Nigel Farage Quaven. The tantrum king. The only bloke who gets as pissed off when he wins as when he loses. He misses what he'd consider himself a relatively easy black, proceeds on smashing the cue on the table but ends up getting another chance and potting it anyway. He followed this by storming out the pub like a 3 year old and chain smoking a cigarette like he's just been 7-balled. Classic Raven. 3-0 to the Bind. The next game was a big 1 at the top end of the hotshots. Stel the greek (Landlord 1) versus Kienen Nixon (Speedy's Grandson). Both quality players who are far too good for this league. But I can honestly say they both played absolutely dreadful lol. The Pressure of the game and the table being pretty awful got to them both. Stevie Wonder would have beat both of them with ease. Kienen ended up being the player who played the least awful in a woeful battle and won the game. Unlucky Stel everyone has their off nights and fair play Stels having an awesome season and has gone leaps and bounds since we started practicing together a couple of years ago. Carlton Arms get themselves on the board 3-1. Eduardo Cumberland (Landlord 2) up next. In traditional steady Eddie style we're watching yet another half an hour frame. Me having smoked about 6 fags, drank about 3 pints and been for a piss twice. He finally pots the black in another lengthy game and we're 4-1 up. Next up is myself, I broke, nominated reds and missed the easiest red I think I've ever missed in my life. One of them where you're not even looking to see if it's gone in and wondering why the other player is getting up to take their shot. Dreadful. Then when their player missed I cleared 5 or 6 balls in a half-decent clearance and got us 5-1 up to the break. Happy days!!! Especially without Matty (I decide I'm not coming 5 mins before the game) Talaga.
2nd half. Up steps the Raven for his 2nd game of the night. Remember he played pretty well and won pretty comfortably. Could tell he was pleased with his performance as he was actually in a good mood after winning a game for a change. 6-1 to the Bind. Stel up next trying to make amends for his first frame. Ends up in a game where he looks big favourite to win, and the lad for them gets big slice of luck with a legendary fluke (CAAAALLLING ALLLL POCKETS) and ends up potting well his last 2 balls to send Stel away empty handed. First time he's ever lost 2 though and in fairness it wasn't the best table. 6-2. The Dougernaut man mountain steps up next. He's played a dreadful straight yellow to the middle by following it in with the white. After giving away 2 shots he was put in a virtually unwinnable spot with balls near covered pockets and he ends up losing. 6-3. Kienen was giving it the biggen saying they were gonna get the 6-6 draw just before I was about to play him . Jake Raven says to Kienen just before we start. "I'll give you a 10er if you beat Rossco". At this point me and Kienen were discussing going a 5er each and i'll throw the game haha . I think we both played a decent game of pool. Kienen breaks dry we both pot 3 or 4 balls on the next visit each with neither of us doing too much wrong. I play a safety development shot on 2 balls tied up balls and left an extremely difficult pot... He nails it in but played it too well and landed nearly straight on his last yellow along the rail which he needed an angle on for the black. he had to screw back off the side cushion for the black into the top right corner. He's played the yellow well and I've put my cue down when I see him on a black he should be potting. Jake Raven's bumhole is currently pulsating aswell as he's waving goodbye to his 10er. But Kienen misses it! I'm left with a 4 or 5 ball relatively easy clearance and complete it to keep the streak going! Kienen is a great little player and has got brilliant potential. One to look out for! His brother Riley who couldn't make it is also doing well in the hotshots I'm sure they'll both turn into great players and with Speedy as their Grandad they are learning from the best. 7-3 to the Bind! The win is done. Didn't see too much of the last 2 games but Saunders was next up and plays well enough to win although he'll admit he's had better games which gets us up to 8-3. The Marksman wins yet again to keep his current form up to make it 9-3! another big win to keep the run going. UP THE BIND!
The win was made more sweet finding out the Horseshoes had been beat by Girton and now it's in our hands to win the league. Great season so far great laughs with the lads. Sorry about awful punctuation and the lack of paragraphs haha. Hope you enjoy the read!
Thanks to the Carlton Arms for some decent grub and an enjoyable night!
