All,
The Handicapped Open is taking place on Sunday 19th July at Cambridge Snooker Centre.
Competitors will be split into two groups (number permitting). One group will start at 10.30 and the other at Midday. The format will be the same as the previous couple of seasons with handicaps ranging from 0 to +4. Race length will vary depending on handicaps. This competition is £3 to enter if you leave the money at CSC by 10pm on Thursday 16th July marked for the attention of Anita Browne. Any entries received after that will be charged at £5. You can also enter on the day for £5 but you have to arrive at 10am and may be drawn into the Midday section.
Handicaps will be discussed by the committee as a whole before the competition. No discussion will be entered into on the matter; we have used our judgement based on (but not restricted to) recent performances in the league and other CAPL competitions to come to this decision.
Start times will be published here on Friday 17th July.

Yo
These are the handicaps we have come up with. If anyone feels particularly aggrieved and can offer some evidence to back it up then we will take another look. I know this is posted quite late but do not wait until the day of the competition to talk about your handicap. That is too late. We will not have time.

Yo
Hopefully the full results will be up soon. A total of 34 players turned up on the day. If I remember correctly the two losing semi finalists were Nick Innes (+5) and Nathan Sanders (+3). The losing quarter finalists were Ian Lea (+2), Simon Pollard (+4), can't remember who Dom beat (?) and myself (+3). Vinnie Callabrese beat Lawrence Beech in the final of the plate. There was some discussion on the day that some of the handicaps were too generous. Ross MacIntyre was off +4 which some thought was too many. We were torn between 3 and 4 and erred on the side of generosity. Others thought that in general it is now too hard for the top players to win the competition? Does anyone have an opinion?

It's tough to get everyone's right... Never going to keep everyone happy. I think +3 or 4 would have been fair for me. A few better more experienced players than me were playing +3

Why are the tournaments now on Sunday's rather than Saturday's when people can have a drink?
Also list of previous winners, doesn't suggest it is too had for the better players to win it,
With the exception of pete Atkinson (who has played Prem), each winner on the records on the stats site played in the prem the season they won it, and 4 of which play for CSC (A).

Saturday is also a normal working day for most people, Sunday is the logical choice, you can still drink but if the need to have that 1 to many prior to Monday working, have an extra 1 Saturday.... equals it out. The best should/will win, however the handicap proves also it works with lower league players often pushing the "names" all the way, speaking from experience that is, fully intend to start playing in it again, the open......well who knows

Most people? How can less than 50% be most people? Pool is a pub game most people like to drink whilst playing,
Have attendances in comps dropped since being moved from Saturday to the Sabbath?

Yo. This was previously played on a Saturday. We had various complaints that both competitions were on a Saturday and this precluded those that worked Saturday's. Adi Card submitted a proposal to either the AGM or GM to change it to a Sunday. This was passed at the relevant meeting. Moving it to a Sunday did increase numbers but now they have started to decline. By all means submit a proposal to move it back to a Saturday? This needs to be to me by email and requires a seconder from a team other than yours. If you cannot obtain a seconder then we will ask for one at the GM. If we cannot get a seconder then the motion will not be discussed. If you do get a seconder then one of you needs to come to the GM to put forward your motion.
