Dan Wright 8 Mark Golden 4
I got 3-2 up despite missing a black and giving Dan a one frame start. The rest of the match was pretty much about Dan. He broke and dished twice and made a couple more one visit clearances. I did snooker myself on a black and missed a relatively easy clearance in the last but I was second best tonight. I didn't play badly. The odd costly mistake and Dan played well.

Aaron O'Connell 4 Mark Golden 8
Aaron missed a black in the first frame. I then got a bit lucky in the second to go 2-0 up. He pretty much lost his head at that point. I kept it tight and got to 5-0. I made a mistake in the sixth and knocked the black in early in the seventh for 5-2. He seemed to be getting the head back on but missed his last colour and it affected him again. I got to 7-2 before he won the tenth and twelfth frames.

Dave Waghorn 4 Mark Golden 8
I won the first four frames. In three of them Dave went for it but didn't quite get home. I then snookered a few times to get my chance. Dave then dished from my dry break in the next. The next was again a frame that Dave got in front but not quite over the line. I made a mistake and he finished it off. Dave had a one start so the score was now 4-3. It was a weird feeling as I thought I had been on top and only made one mistake but the score was still very close. Can't remember the rest of the frames but I remember trying to continue to keep it tight and was delighted to get over the line.

Garry Browne 4 v Mark Golden 8
I can't remember a great deal of this match but know I had some good luck and Garry had some bad luck. One shot in particular springs to mind. Garry trebled the black into the middle. It was very fine and the white went up, down and back up the table before knocking in my red ball that was sitting over the corner bag.

Shaun Leader 7 v Mark Golden 5
Shaun won a poor first frame. He had a one start so that put him 2-0 up. I made a couple of half decent clearances to get back to two each. Shaun then gave me the £50 for the bet we had last year. When I stood up I was 5-2 down. Seriously he played well to get to that score. I then somehow managed to win 3 in a row to get it to five each. In the next frame I tried to play safe and the white went in the middle. Frame over. In the last I went for the break and dish and went in off my second last ball from under the cushion. Same result, frame over. Shaun played well. Didn't lose focus. I am not upset with how I played. That is me done for August.

Yo
Reuben Morley 7 v Mark Golden 5
I had to give Reuben a one start. He took out a couple of good finishes to go 3-1 up. I dug in and took advantage of a couple of mistakes from Reuben to go 4-3 up. I had taken out a couple of decent finishes in the process. I then made some schoolboy errors which were punished by Reuben and he went 6-4 up. I was now getting frustrated and with an obvious safety in the next I went for the finish and left Reuben on the black, which he again promptly despatched. I won the last after he knocked the black in at the same time as his last yellow.

Nathan Sanders 8 v Mark Golden 4
I had chances in the first couple of frames but didn't take them. Nathan broke and dished the thrid frame, I then think he dished off my dry break in the fourth. I won the odd frame here and there after that but Nathan was much the better player on the night. He is becoming a very accomplished player even at the age of 18. I think there is a lot more to come. Well done.
