As i'm sure you expected Jim and Paul i'll be commenting today! One of the most satisfying wins since i've played this beautiful game. Mainly due to me rushing around at work to get to our venue asap to play my frame. For the first time in 10 years in playing in the CAPL was refused to wait a few minutes for me to play my frame. There is regular requests from other teams to wait for their player or change order which we are ALWAYS happy to do as it's supposed to be a friendly league and playing pool is the enjoyment we all get. In fact last season the Kings Head asked if 2 players could play their games and then leave which we were happy to do but ask them to change the order isn't ok. JOKE!! Even your landlord said it was wrong when i spoke to him. Our whole team now have a sour taste in their mouth which made the win even more satisfying! Did the potential win matter that much? I'm not even that good! Merry christmas everyone!

You have to be joking Timmy, I don't know any team in the league that won't accommodate players that are late etc.

Timmy
Sorry about the bad feeling i have caused. When i was asked if i would allow you to play an hour late, i took advice from a commitee member because the last time we did this it cost us 2nd place in the league. Once again i apologise for the bad feeling i have caused, and as usual the commitee member i got advice from got it wrong.

As a team (since i've played at the K/H) we have always bent over backwards to help teams move frames/games forward backward etc, which teams will confirm. After the last time we tried to help it went too far and ruined the night and season, the committee afterwards agreed that if the player isn't present at the time then the frame is lost, harsh yes, but it could have meant the matches going on etc. moving frames forward is no problem, if the player is present. Hopefully we can put this to bed and enjoy the good relationship for the forth coming game and seasons ahead.

a couple seasons a go same thing happened to pud in our team tim they claimed the frame in the first half and allowed him to play in the second half even though they knew from the start he was running late i cant recall all the specifics though but anyway its not an isolated incident, we also won that game convincingly maybe they should stop refusing peops to play its back firing horribly

mr Todd
I have known you for quite a while now so be careful, what you say about people as the past can so easily come back and bite you up the a--e.
I have explained why it happened, so there is nothing for you to worry about unless you want me to drag up your past hot, shots come to mind.

When i spoke to both committee members i'm quite sure they both said the decision not to allow me to play was made by the captain alone where as it sounds like he asked the committee members for advice?! Confused! Surely changing order is changing order Jim whether it's slightly delaying or bringing forward. I was in contact with a team mate and said i'd left work and would be there in 10 mins which i was just about. Anyway it's got a little out of hand. Happy we won and look forward to playing at your place next year!

Unfortunately one team last season spoilt a lot of our faith in the honest teams out there. We all know who I'm referring to so I shan't name the team. As for mr Todd that incident you are referring too was when pud had a doubles tennis match and YOU told us we could have the frame because you couldn't get hold of him and he was answering his phone anymore. Luckily he arrived 45mins later. As for the other night yes Timmy I agree it has got out of hand but maybe people should get the whole story before assuming. If someone's late then fair play tell the team at the start of the night not right when they are about to play plus if you have a spare player then play them. Yes I know it's all what ifs at the end of the day. Unfortunate incident and tbh to blame our captain is harsh as it wasn't his sole decision. One team last year got away with a lot of things and has spoilt it for the rest of us.

Actually it was you guys who said it was captains decision. I wasn't aware we had another player and i asked my team mates to inform your team on arrival. Looks like misunderstanding on both parts to be fair. It's supposed to be fun and i accept some blame on behalf of me for being late in the first place and my team for not informing you. It's dealt with now and i hope all parties are happy. Merry christmas!!

Yo. We just need to be sensible about this. We all allow players to play early and also late. I think the only issue is when someone is late. How long do you wait? Until the first half is finished? Until the match is finished? I think Matt Covill had a player late the other week and at the end of the first half he then volunteered the frame to the opposition. It just needs a bit of sensible thinking. Sometimes the Beer takes over though.

Monkey you make a valid point, but I believe that players would rather play a game of pool than claim a hollow victory. Frankly there are a limited amount of teams who chase victory at all costs (we have been victims of this in the past when teams have declined to rearrange etc but ho hum). knowing the two teams involved here, however, I was initially surprised to hear about it but it has all been explained quite adequately. Timmy was not aware that there was a spare player there and in those circumstances I would have also queried why that player did not play. Frankly they are two good teams who are there to enjoy their pool and there were a few misunderstandings but I for one am pleased to see that it is all amicably resolved and I am sure that these two teams will thoroughly enjoy the return leg and play it all in the right spirit. (psst ask timmy about me refusing to shake his hand after his previous posting ) All in good spirit and a laugh (even though he then got jammy and beat me)

The other player was signed on the night as i wasn't there and my team signed him up rather than forfeit the frame which makes it a little more acceptable but what would of happened if he wasn't there, would the frame be claimed? I arrived at 930 and i know in the past providing the match hasn't finished i've generally played as soon as i've got there. Sometimes i've arrived after 7 frames and sometimes as the 10th frame is being played. I always keep my team mates informed and if i'm not going to get there by 930 generally try and get someone to take my place when possible. Never been a problem in the past. Whilst i accept the opposition have the right to claim it's nice to play all frames if possible and i always make the same exception for opposing teams. Most annoying thing is i've got a great record in the first half this season so didn't get my free half pint as per usual lol Very funny ejac!! (jammy? should've put you away long before i finally did )
