Because I'm bored at work, and for a bit of fun, what's everyone's views on the final table at the end of the season?
1 Emperor (A) - EX plough, white lion, Cricks (B) etc, should have enough quality to win the league.
2 Mickey Flynn's (C) - Couple of new signings and the players who were new to world rules have now had a season to get use to the rules, alot will depend how much Fin and Thommo play.
3 Caldecote S.C. (A) - Only team from out in the sticks gives them a healthy home advantage, definately the most serious pool players in the league and will be there or there abouts.
4 Portland Arms (A)) - Big loss in seemingly no more Doctor, seemed to struggle for six last season. Have some good players in Dave et al, much will depend on if the can get a 6th.
5 Jenny Wren (A) - Very good pub pool players, capable of beating any team on their day however consistency seems to be a problem.
6 Cambridge Uni. (A) - unknown quantity as ever, Winter season often proves to provide the CAPL with a stronger uni side.
7 Sir Isaac Newton - Did well to stay up last season, Joe was looking to bring players in, so may well depend on new signings.
8 Portland Arms (B) - Have to well versed and experienced players in Gavin and Steve, much will depend on how many 4/4's they achieve.
9 Salisbury Club (A) - Unless they have made any signings I fear Div 2 may be a jump to far.

I've given it a go too.
1. Emperor - 2-3 classy players backed up by some solid players should give them enough to win this division and at the very least get promotion.
2. Mickey Flynns C - If their 2 new players play every game then they're in with a great shout of challenging for both promotion and the title.
3. Sir Isaac Newton - One has left but the two who have replaced him could give us a chance of challenging for promotion.
4. Caldecote SC - Probably the most solid team of players in the league could give them a chance of challenging for promotion.
5. Cambridge Uni A - A bit of an unknown quantity for me but the pool of players available in the winter should see them be solidly mid table at least.
6. Jenny Wren - Talented team who always seem to beat the top teams but don't always beat the teams they should beat. They could finish higher if they are more consistent.
7. Portland Arms B - 2 of the best players in division should keep them up and if other players adapt to this division they may even finish higher.
8. Portland Arms A - Good players in Dave, Kyle, Steve but seemed to struggle to get a team together last season. A repeat could see them in the relegation battle.
9. Salisbury A - Can see them struggling to make the step up without new signings.

Much like last season I bet it's gonna be a tight one. Tough division! Don't you like a visit to the sticks luke? Haha see you Thursday, looking forward to some pool. Good luck all

1 Emperor (A) - Basically the same team that got to Yarmouth twice so got to be slight favourites, although not sure if our best player will be playing every week and we don't have a lot of squad depth.
2 Mickey Flynn's (C) - Not sure how often Finlay will play, but I would say Thommo would turn up most weeks and that will give a significant advantage as he is very solid and experienced.
3 Cambridge Uni (A) - They always get better players in winter league, and should do well in Div 2 this season.
4 Portland Arms (A)) - They still have plenty of good players, even without the docter.
5 Jenny Wren (A) - Hard to beat them at their place. Karl Knight is a good player, Neeshy a good captain.
6 Caldecote (A) - They have 2 - 3 good, much improved players and will be good at home but away form a concern.
7 Portland Arms (B) - 2 very good players, but not enough depth.
8 Salisbury Club - As with Caldecote really.
9 Isaac - Same as Portland (b).
Hotshots - probably Dan Taylor!

1) Portland A - A new signing and premature rumours of the demise of the Doctor leaves them with a strong line-up for Div 2 this season.
2) Emperor A - Plenty of experience
3) Cambridge Uni A - The Uni always suffers in the summer league as the majority of their players are away. I remember years ago, CAPL used to give the Uni exemption from having to play the summer league, as it would likely mean relegation in the summer, followed by promotion the following winter. They could easily start following that yo-yo pattern, with a promotion now they have their strongest team back. A talented fresher may well make the difference as to whether they gain promotion.
4) Mickey Flynn's C - Going on what others say, it sounds like a strong season ahead.
5) Caldecote A - Probably too much inconsistency to challenge for promotion, but likely to have enough results to secure a mid-table finish
6) Jenny Wren A - As for Caldecote
7) Portland B - Could be a relegation worry, but they've been impressing me with their results season after season, so I'm not going to bet against them staying up
8) Isaac Newton - Similar strength to Portland B, see the two of them being close come the end of the season
9) Salisbury - Probably don't have enough at the moment to compete with some very strong teams
Hotshots: Dave Saul

Yo
I haven't played in division 2 before so that is a new challenge. Nice to see two teams from the Portland Arms as you are guaranteed a good feed. I will add that i don't think anyone will be disappointed with the fayre the Emperor provide. I have never played Caldecote A or the Isaac Newton so looking forward to those matches. Trips to Mickey's, CSC and the Salisbury Club are always welcome for the cheap beer. Had some real good laughs with the Jenny Wren a few years ago. All in all it looks like a nice division.

Should be a good season, really looking forward to the isaac/portland/portland playoffs and a trip to the Emperor as haven't played there before. My realistic prediction for the table is as follows,
1 Emperor (A)
2 Mickey Flynn's (C)
3 Caldecote S.C. (A)
4 Portland Arms (A)).
5 Portland Arms (B)
6 Jenny Wren (A)
7 Sir Isaac Newton
8 Cambridge Uni. (A)
9 Salisbury Club (A)
but my heart says we'll smash it

Certainly division 2 is the most interesting division on the forum!
