You can now register for the 2011/2012 8-Ball Singles League at Cambridge Snooker Centre. Registration starts today (11th August) until 14th September (official deadline to follow). The league itself will start 1st October 2011.
The registration fee is £30 and must be paid in cash at CSC, do not give your money to singles league organisers. You need to fill in a short form, in duplicate, with name, CAPL team (if any), mobile number and forum username (if any). Make sure the bar staff sign/initial your copy of the form before handing it to you - it is your receipt and proof you've paid the registration fee.
Registration is first come first served as we will cap entry numbers somewhere between 52 - 60 to provide 4 divisions of equal numbers.
We encourage all players to join the CAPL forum so they can keep up to date throughout the season and be contacted if necessary. Updates will also be posted on the noticeboard in CSC (behind table 21, next to the display cabinet), but we will only SMS players with information specific to them, not general announcements.
The rules are much the same as previous seasons - a draft copy of the new rules can be found on the forum at the link below.

The most significant change is to the way match fees are calculated. They are fixed at £10 per match (£5 per player) regardless of match duration, but CSC reserve the right to charge you extra should the match exceed 2.5h.
Division sizes will depend upon the number of entries, but are normally 12 - 15. This would give a total cost of £85-£100 for the whole season. For this you will play 11-14 matches, each being 12 frames long. For those of you that are used to practicing in a pub at £1 a frame, this is competitive match practice, with the chance to win decent prize money, cheaper than you can practice!
The following players need to provide an additional deposit of £50 should they wish to enter the singles league this season. The deposit will be returned at the end of the season if all your fixtures are completed on time:
John Roe
Will Scott
Carl McDonald
Andy Smillie
Carl Avory
Matt Talaga
Hugh Lund
Dan Taylor
Chris Newman
James Case
Martin Eaton
Wayne Thompson
Ross Joyce
