Please see below for the draw for the Captain's Cup: Games are to take place on Sunday July 14th with the winner to text me directly (see www.cambridgeareapoolleague.co.uk website in contact section). Stewards are in bold and are to be the main point of contact with me in the event of any issues. Matches will be best of 3 until 4 players remain, in which case the venue semi and final will be best of 5. Note for Stewards: Please be responsible for the draw on the night and for noting down all scores for matches played. If you are not going to be able to make it to the venue please let me know asap. Remember that a timer should be used for all games, it is the responsibility of all entrants at the venue to assist with that when not playing. Any queries regarding matches where a stopwatch hasn't been used will be ignored. If any entrants are not there for the alloted start time, and haven't called ahead first, please do the draw without them. Discretion advised, of course. The competition will start at 8pm with participants aiming to arrive between 7.30pm and 7.45pm to allow the steward to perform the draw at 8pm for a prompt start. A lot has been said on here about holding match's out side cambridge over the last season but when you look at the turn out for the captains cup what a poor show it was at Mickeys and the Run only 4 players turned up and 3 of them came from outside cambridge .The only good thing was free pool all night for me and Garry

I've read some pretty dumb **** on this forum in my time (Mainly from Covill), but that pretty much takes the biscuit.

Let me be the patsy... enter a competition that you wish to play in...pay attention to when it is happening.
Don't rely on the 'skipper', rely on yourself.
Simplessshhhh

Simplessshhhh The whole scenario is rather comical and thanks to the emporer pingu captain and a few others not turning up caldecote B captain Neil has made the semi final so very well done to him!

comical is an excellent choice of word
dobbin - he is the skipper!
i am going to propose a change in the entry criteria in the constitution in addition to the others that states the captain must be capable of using a calender and must take responsibility as an individual for turning up!
i thank you on behalf of the committee and the entire CAPL for not demanding reimbursement - it has saved us a very difficult decision
while i sympathise that people have difficult personal situations, endlessly using it as an excuse/reason (delete as appropriate) for not attending pool competitions on a public forum is tiresome. if you don't turn up you don't turn up. the competition is not reduced in stature by the absence of an individual
Helpful hints for the day:
(1)try the 40 most recent posts button - a useful tool in this type of situation perhaps?
(2)search under the captain's cup
(3)check the competition dates on the website
(4)check the letter that monkey spent time to post to each individual venue
(5)check the handout in your captains pack
(6) refer to the pool calendar that has been set up on the website
this is seriously boring me so i am bowing out of this. i hope no other threads are posted so this shows up on the forum.
the end

I did still have to play a match didn't get through by default. Also against a very good player that I've never beaten before.
