I scraped through my group, beat Steve McDonald 2-1 when it probably should have been 3-0 to him(!), and beat Speedy 2-1 in the final.
I heard that Wayne Martin and Paul Stel are both through (correct me if I'm wrong) - how did everyone else get on?
1- 2- 3- 4- 5- 6- 7- 8- 9- W Martin 10- 11- 12- R Cork 13- P Stelmaszuk 14- 15- 16-

I won the first one and Raymondo cleaned up the more lucrative second game. Also quite funny to watch a drunk bloke sitting on an invisible chair

Why did some venues play Mens Singles 1st round (the final on the night) best of 5 when it's very clear that it's best of 3? Is it just to make it more entertaining?

We played best of 5 final would have been same winner either way thought it was best of 5 in final match. Had an amusing spectator at the Jenny Wren he approached the table put his money on the table and slurred "I'm the best player in here I 'll beat all of you" err sorry mate you will have to wait match on ;D

Yeah there was some confusion over this best of 3 or 5. I got to my final at the Rathmore and played Carl in a best of 3. Didn't get a shot in the first game, then he somehow potted the black when i had him stitched good and proper in the second. Never seen the guy play before, was very impressed with his clearance tactis though. Well done mate. Matt

Why did some venues play Mens Singles 1st round (the final on the night) best of 5 when it's very clear that it's best of 3? Is it just to make it more entertaining? The sheet with the competition draw made mention of the last match being a best-of-five - it did call this match the semi-final (final two), so I wasn't quite sure what that meant, but figured it was just a mistake. I couldn't see why there would be any mention of a best-of-five on the sheet for the first round, if none of the matches were going to be best-of-fives!
