There is a clear and transparent format. 2 go up and 2 go down, then depending on drop outs, new teams go in the most appropriate division for their ability where there is a space.
When Simon Rivers and co entered, the highest free space was in division 2 which was why they were placed there. This season as the Blue Lion did not re-enter, a decision was made that CSC Young Guns were strong enough to warrant getting the free space, rather than promoting an extra team from division 2.
It is worth clarifying that 2 got promoted from division 2, and that the Blue Lion A did not re-enter. They didn't pull out of the league (as you said above), they completed last season. Had they re-entered then they would have gone into division 2.
The space taken by CSC Young Guns in division 1 is the space left by CWMC A who did not re-enter. As far as I know, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, CSC Young Guns have the previous captain of CWMC A, arguably the workies best player in Shaun Leader and the winner of last season's hotshots in Nosh Lemmon. I would rank that team at least on a par with last season's CWMC A team.
With differing numbers of teams entering each season, the only core policy that can be put in place is to promote the top 2 and relegate the bottom 2 in each division. If you don't finish in the top 2 you shouldn't feel hard done by if you don't get promoted and if you don't finish in the bottom 2 then you shouldn't be relegated (in my opinion), CSC R finished outside the bottom 2 and weren't relegated, Rathmore B finished outside the top 2 in their division and weren't promoted, it's as simple as that.

On the bright side Ralphy, your team have to be considered one of the favourites to win division 2 so you've a great chance to show that your team deserve to be in division 1 by winning div 2 this season and guaranteeing promotion. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Are there any rules regarding relegation in this league? Two seasons ago a team which finished in bottom two of division 2 dropped out of the league so 3rd bottom were relegated. This season Blue Lion finish 2nd bottom, pull out of league but CSC(r) 3rd bottom aren't relegated. CSC(r) should be division 2, Rathmore B in division 1!!! On another point are Nosh's superteam better than Simon Rivers and co, they went in division 2, yet young guns division 1? The committee, MUST for next season have a clear and transparent format for placing teams in correct leagues, why not get the committee from another local league to decide on a completely neutral basis on any difficult decisions. seriously? ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png) are you honestly bringing this up again? ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png) the situation following registration night is exactly the same every season...without fail. same number of teams, personnel etc that way it is straight forward to do a two up two down system? we randomly chose who we prefer to relegate and promote based on no other criteria than a random draw out of a hat the young guns are clearly better than CSC (A) in the committee's opinion that's EXACTLY why they were put into the first division. why on earth else would we do it? it was only a happy coincidence that thats where the space was available pheww!! ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) i assure you the minimal amount of time and effort is spent in deciding this, and if its disrupts everyone and causes as much aggravation to people (in particular your team)....all to the better for the record this is not serious but reword a couple of your remarks it is what you are suggesting. i refer you to my colleagues responses above. i havent even gone down the "neutral external people". are you implying that we are not? do not retract - that's exactly what it means in 6 months time we will be holding a meeting to decide on winter 2012/13. ralphy please attend and see how wrong you actually are ejac - the minutes are available from the league secretary. contact mark golden and i am sure he will be happy to pass them on to you there is nothing to hide lol

May i just add a couple of things:
The CSC Young Guns is, in the opinion of the committee a strong team. The personnel are Ben Clements, Shaun Leader, Ron Lemmon (second best player in CSC A), Jordan Lemmon, Jason Browes, Michael Shipton and Ashley Scarr. You could argue that this team is replacing CWMC so they should take their place in Division One anyway? The situation with CSC A/Q Power involved a team splitting into two. After that episode, rules have now been put in place to cope with that situation. This season the CSC F team has split into two. Part of the team is now the Rathmore F and part has remained CSC F. The rules were not required but were there should there have been a dispute as to which part of the team took the spot of the original team. In the previous season that you talk about with Hardwick A, a team pulled out during the season and therefore all of their results were expunged. Hardwick then finished second bottom. This season the Blue Lion completed their fixtures. As such the bottom two were relegated and when the Blue Lion did not re-enter the vacant space left by the Blue Lion was in Division Two. This is why 3rd top in Division Three (Rock B formerly Rosemary Branch A) has been promoted to Division Two. I do not agree with asking another league to become involved. As previously mentioned i think we are neutral and we do try to do what we think is best for the league as a whole. I hope that comment was not thought through properly. I hope this explains things but feel free to ask for more clarification.

There are maybe a couple of things to think about beforehand though there are occasions where delicate confidential subjects are discussed that should not be divulged to a greater audience, either by necessity or by request from the parties involved obviously i cant give specific examples, but disciplinary proceedings would be a general example if we were to say that these instances were not published but the rest of the minutes were then there is a problem of being perceived to be choosing what to tell the members and what not to personally, and this is only my opinion, i have no issue with the minutes being available but with the appreciation that some subjects are just too sensitive to be putting out there i have always stressed my desire to have the committee as transparent and approachable as possible i hope we go some way to achieving this if you want to suggest how we could do this i am sure we could look into a practical way forward to satisfy everyone

personally, and this is only my opinion, i have no issue with the minutes being available but with the appreciation that some subjects are just too sensitive to be putting out there That pretty much sums it up, keep confidential matters out but put up the rest of the minutes up. Disciplinaries should be held seperately and as a result should have their own seperate record anyway. There is very little else that should be confidential but discretion can be practised by the committee in this area. Then put them up on the board for all to see, this will definitely enhance transparency ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Thanks Steve Steve and monkey for clearing that up. I apologise if I implied anything, I was just seeking clarity on how the leagues are decided. Thanks again for the clear explanation and good luck for the new season everyone

No worries, I didn't realise the amount of thought and reasoning that goes into these decisions prior to joining the committee, so I can understand why you were asking. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Good luck for next season! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

What is the rule if a team has been put up a division i.e finishing third not an automatic promo and they dont want to go up they want to stay in the division they were/are in and earn promotion as a top two not as a third ?

Get relegated next season? ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) no but seriously i do know of a team who will suprisingly not be to happy about being put up its there second promotion when they have finished third they have never finished top 2 and i know specifically this season because they all told me if the situation occured that they finished third they would definitely not want to be promoted if there was drop outs etc they said they want to earn promotion by finishing top 2. I do see there point but go figure dont know what happens in this case dont know if they can approach the committee and request the decision was reversed or something ? anyway i told them to speak to a committee member so hopefully they will get it sorted

I personally wouldn't want to go up in third place. Promotion by default with no trophy to boot doesn't appeal to me.

Young Guns - Nosh, jordan, Ben Clements, Micheal Shipton Nosh? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) How young is he? Theyre not good enough for Div 1. Div 5 I'd say... Stewards enquiry ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Nosh must be the Terence Stamp character of the team. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

So can anybody suggest how to do it then ? Because in an ideal world where every team remains the same season in and out 2 up/down will work but teams folding leaves openings in other divs. If we then continue with the 2 up down we may have 10 in prem, 9 in div1, 10 in div 2, 8 in div 3 Down to 10 in div 8. Next season 2 fold in div3 will poss only leave 7 ....... How do we fill spaces? New teams? What if there are more teams fold than new teams? Easiest way is to promote a third team up end of. Easy as 123 if teams don't like it then sorry in my opinion tough Some teams would love the chance to enter our league.......
