So what was your excuse for averaging 2 and a half minutes a shot against me last month Dave?
Ha Ha, I normally put it down to old age and a degree of senility, Luke.
However, to be fair to myself, whereas our match lasted 3 hours, my last one lasted less than 2 hours - so maybe it was you who was taking the time!
I certainly didn't average 2 and a half minutes a shot!!
In truth, the difference was due to the way the balls fell - I think we agreed that we had at least 10 scrappy, tactical frames out of the 12, whereas I can only remember the odd one in my last match.
Tactical/scrappy frames = a lot more shots = longer frames. Each shot also requires more thought than a simple clearance.
Personally, I don't mind that - they are often more interesting frames, more of a chess match compared to draughts, and three hours of pool is a good way of spending an evening to me! (and I let you beat me, so you shouldn't complain
)
Seriously though, players do have different styles and speeds, according to their character, as do professional snooker players, and I think we should accept that.
I would hate to see timers introduced to the televised snooker tournaments, it would ruin it.
