no you can trial i just thought it might be nice for cambrigde to have a ladys team so they would gain experiance for county ladies but you can trial for the other teams if you want

If I may be candid - I think if a player can't make the trials (male or female), they should probably go back to working on their game and playing in the league and it's local events, rather than forming a team of weak players and getting thumped week in week out.
No point running before you can walk.

No point running before you can walk. see where you are coming from but dont agree mate i have spent years getting thumped and it is the only way to improve. you need to push yourselves aganst better players constantly or you wont get anywhere. its also important to learn how to lose as well as win (you know what i mean!!) if it takes a couple of years of getting thrashed to raise your game so that you can then compete then so be it

I did it. No other way to learn. The best way to improve is to play someone better than you. I Have offered Phil money games but he won't play me... ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) and i won't travel!

I agree that you should keep raising the bar, play better players, and lose more than you win to improve. I'm saying do it in stages, the right way, and at a level where you can get more out of the match.
Entering yourself in to a season long competition in which you may never win a frame is demoralising. You could learn just as much watching from the crowd.
I think time would be better spent playing a friendly against a better player who can give out advice during and after each frame.
Learn through losing, reinforce your knowledge through winning.
Anyway - that's just my veiw.
