Result: Monkfield Arms (B) 5 v 4 Fulbourn Institute Lilywhites
Close game, we were 3-0 up and threw it away. They have some decent players, and all the frames were close.
Good friendly team, although one eejit could have spoiled it when he reffed the last frame and called our player a cheat (but didn't insist on a foul after everyone told him he was wrong) for touching the cue ball more than once as he was placing it before playing it from baulk after it had gone in off.
He claimed that he knew all the rules of all the cue sports in the world, (he didn't) but the real reason was, as he let slip, another team had penalised them for it, and they accepted it, ha ha ha.
Luckily they had already won the match so it wasn't worth arguing over, but could have caused problems if it was the decider.
Anyway, well played to the Monkfield Arms, and good luck in the next round.

Yeah, he also claimed that the world rules were "dozens of pages long" When I said er, no, they are not, he wasn't impressed.
After the match he was still insisting that he was right about not being allowed to touch the cue ball more than once and he definitely new ALL the rules on ALL the cue sports from all over the world, and better than anyone else!
I am not sure what he was on, but he must have had some of it at half time, as he was awful in his singles but he played really well in his doubles! Sometimes you just gotta laugh!

I played a match quite a while back, and their captain tried to tell me it was a foul, if the player retrieved the cue ball from the tray following an in off. I told him it wasn't and never has been, and to try reading the rules instead of listening to people who obviously don't know what they are talking about. He still thought he was right though!
